courtesy reminder AAH annual dues due Feb. 28th 2026

2/24/2026

Dear members,

This is a last reminder to those who's annual dues payments have not as yet been received by our treasurer Roswitha Kropf:

Bear in mind that late receipt after Feb. 28th 2026 does not only incur a $ 15 late fee but also requires a new application for membership which voids your past years of membership related to your seniority of being a "shareholder" if and when the association may be terminated.

We send this message not as a bill collector but simply to keep you informed.

Aloha nui !

A joyful and successful Bratwurst BBQ - take a look !

2/23/2026

Dear members and guests,

While we had a few anxious moments on account of the unstable weather we had a fine time and a full house for the BBQ. Tragically our longtime provider of the Bratwurst Martin Wyss passed away recently causing us to import the Bratwurst via my son Mark. It also turned out to be "grobe Bratwurst" compared to "feine Bratwurst". But judging by the comments of many participants the quality was right on !

The misty and at times rainy weather produced some gorgeous rainbows - Anuenue in Hawaiian !

The highlight was the award of "Austrians of the year" to our co-treasurers and membership chairs Roswitha Kropf and Brigitte Visser !

We thank our volunteers who gave freely of their time and talents:

Set up:   Carlotta, Tammy Pesentheiner, Sig Doppelmayer and yours truly

Reception: Roswitha K. and Brigitte V.

Cleanup: Tory Laitila, David and Matthew Friedman, Arturo Rivera (and many others)

Cooking: Mark, Andreas and Tammy P. (cooking supervisor on crutches Armand P.)

Photography: Magda Alexander, Renate Rivera

We look forward to our next event, the Eva's Kaneohe Yacht Club BBQ, the timing of which will be announced soon !

Aloha nui !

Pepi

Dear members and friends,

We are delighted to note that our event is sold out ! But we regret that we will not be seeing all of you as we grew fond of you over the years. Let's hope that we all get together during one of our next events (like the always popular Eva's Kaneohe Yacht Club BBQ) which we hope to have during summer.

For the Bratwurst BBQ please note to bring all your own beverages and glasses !

We attach the invitation to make sure that you are on cue !

Aloha !

Good morning members,

We trust that you had a fine Christmas and New Year and have enjoyed our lively "La Marinara " event !

Now I need to address your attention to a little "AAH Business"!

As you have learned from our recent "renewal message" there is a need that your 2026 dues are received by our treasurer Roswitha Kropf by no later than February 28th 2026 ! Please pay attention to this section of our renewal letter:

"Dear Members:
The annual AAH membership is due for 2026. Membership is renewable on January 1st of each year. The fee is $ 25 for an individual or $ 30 for family. We hope this will be an incentive for all of our members to continue their membership and participate in our 2026 events’ adjustments are possible. New members who joined and paid dues after Jul. 1st  are paid up for next year.
Please take note: a $15 late fee applies if payment reaches us after Feb.28th !"
As you know, AAH has an investment portfolio which has been used to subsidize AAH events over the years and at present sits at $ 40,665 plus a checking balance of $ 1,118 for a total of $ 41,178. Per our constitution the net worth of the association in case of a termination is to be divided equally to individual members and family members.

This part of our constitution has been modified a per resolution dated December 26th 2025 a section of which is herewith stated:

Article VII - Dissolution
The dissolution of the Association can be put to a vote by the Bürgermeister at a scheduled Board meeting and must be voted on by the Board of Directors. After such a vote passes no new memberships to the Association will be accepted. In the event of dissolution, abandonment or termination of the Association, any and all assets then possessed by the Association, after current indebtedness has been paid, shall be returned to the active membership of the Association at the time of dissolution. The Membership Chair will provide a list of all paid up members to the Treasurer. Single and family memberships shall count equally as one. The liquid assets of the association shall be divided equally by the number of qualifying members at that time and checks in the resulting amount will be mailed forth-with.

Amendment I
A._ Active paid members who submitted membership payment late in one year will be deemed “new members” upon payment of dues and late fee. Their eligibility for any compensation at the time of a dissolution of the organization begins with the date of the receipt of the late payment and late fee by the treasurer.

B._ In case of extenuating circumstances related to a delinquency a request can be made in writing to the AAH Board of Directors which will deliberate the case and vote to void the delinquency by a simple majority vote.

C._ To be eligible for a settlement upon dissolution a member must have a record of 3 uninterrupted paid years of membership.

Article VIII – Amendments
This Constitution may be amended and passed by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Council present at a general meeting or through electronic means, notified specifically to act upon such suggested amendments. Such meeting notice must be sent out no later than twenty days prior to the date of the meeting, stating the purpose thereof.

{Amended, December 26, 2025}

It is not our intention to dissolve the Association at this time but we need to keep you abreast of any change in our rules. A complete Constitution and By Laws will be sent to all paid up members after March 1st 2026.
Aloha !

A romantic Stammtisch at La Mariana Sailing Club and Restaurant

2/2/2026

Dear members and friends,

Twenty of us gathered on Saturday, January 31st at this last of the Tiki Bars and Restaurants on the island, harking back to the 50's and 60's Hawai'i. It felt like stepping back in time to a period of romance.

Once all were assembled we observed a moment of silence honoring the memory of our longtime member and friend Brigitte Lesiak who recently passed away.

We introduced our friend Chris von Imhof and his wife Brigitte who are here from Alaska. Chris was the General Manager of all the Prince Hotels in Hawai'i and the "father of the Oktoberfest" on Maui. In later years the Oktoberfest was also celebrated at the Waikiki Prince with our friend Guido providing the culinary delights for quite a number of you to enjoy.

The music and songs from the Don Ho and Elvis Presley area were very much enjoyed by all of us old timers…! When the entertainer asked for us to name an Austrian song we quoted "Edelweiss" and believe it or not our guest Brigitte von Imhof sang it to the crowds enjoyment !
I am glad that Mimi had a chance to sing a couple of songs and that Pepi and Carlotta had the last dance being the longest married couple at 64 years in the restaurant !
A beautiful sunset over the marina closed a very pleasant afternoon.
Thanks to Murray Visser for arranging this wonderful event. Our thanks to master photographers Magda and Renate !

Aloha nui !
