First cruises. Here I have a firm that has been very efficient and in some instances substantially better priced than the cruise line who obviously wishes to cut out the "middle man" when sending their colorful brochures to past cruise clients.

I joined about 10 years ago because they offer a service which sends a properly licensed and experienced driver to bring my  36 ft Motor Home back to my storage facility in Sacramento, CA from wherever I would be on the North American continent and bring my wife and me to a competent hospital including air ambulance if needed. In the interest of fair disclosure, I have never had the need to make use of this service. If you check their webpage it will inform you that they also bring you and your spouse back from anywhere in the world. My annual cost for Carlotta and I is about $ 280. Having said that I never used their actual services I suggest if interested, that you call them and inquire !

Now to old news (very old news) !

While our daily news, including the local news is full of mayhem of murder, corruption and the like the Economist published some news that is now 950 years old and deals with the Bayeux Tapestry which was created on the occasion of the Norman conquest of England and the battle of Hastings in 1066. The artwork is a colorful, ancient piece of linen roughly the length of a Boeing 747. For the first time in all these years the artwork is leaving France and is being displayed by the British Museum in London.

We are crossing our fingers and hope and pray that the hurricane Lowell passes by the islands without damage, especially the islands of Kauai and Niihau !

Dear members and friends,

Our postponed Stammtisch did finally happen in spite of the advancing tropical storm "Moke" and a few of my miscalculations. Fearing drenching rain I contacted the manager and asked to have our seating moved to a table inside the building. When we arrived there ahead of our crowd we noticed the assigned seating to be only a few feet away from the bar largely crowded by the mostly male bar customers in a dark area. Since I owned a few bars in my lifetime and tended bar in them I thought this would not be good. A helpful manager moved us outside into the courtyard to two tables that were in partial sun which I figured would be shady soon as the sun was to move behind a nearby high-rise. Again I was wrong, the sun had a mind of her own and kept baking us. Now, by luck a few tables in the shade opened up and in the end we found our best spot !

We had a good turn out of 19 guests who appeared to have had a good time as you can see. The staff was courteous and I noticed them to consist of mostly pretty, young women ! One of our great joys was our long time member Bodo's appearance having had major surgery just a short while go. Bravo Bodo !

We welcomed a fellow Austrian, Ms. Sabrina Filzmoser who is a tour helicopter pilot in Honolulu.

While I personally feel that the visit was pricey, we may go there again in the future especially since we now know which table to reserve !

Our thanks go to our photographers Magda Alexander who has just returned from Europe and Renate Rivera. Last but not least, Art Rivera took the picture of the beer brewing vat !

we invite you to an afternoon of genteel fellowship with good food (your own) and a few drinks in a romantic setting of the Kaneohe Yacht Club on Sunday, May 24th  2026 beginning at 4 PM.
 
Monica Ciletti - Allerstorfer is our host and AAH will pay for the reservation fees. Since we are limited to 25 persons we must offer this to our paid up members in good standing first and take their guests on a space available basis.
We honor the memory of our beloved Vice President Eva Allerstorfer and Hermann our past Bürgermeister at this event !
Here is how we ask you to proceed:
Send an e-mail to our treasurer Roswitha at: [email protected]  , 808-343-5104 only if you have no e-mail available) listing all your name (s).
 
List guest(s) in the same e-mail but identify them as guests.
 
The first 25 persons will have a reservation. Roswitha will reply that you are confirmed. She will respond to anyone who is not confirmed and place them on a waiting list. If by May 19th at noon there are less than 25 members reserved, guests will be accepted based on the date stamp of your e-mail and Roswitha will contact those on the wait list.
 
As you walk through the KYC gate the gatekeeper will have a list containing your and your guest’s names.
 
You bring your own food and side dishes Pot Luck and to ‘please bring a favorite dish to share’. You may want to bring items to be grilled on the KYC BBQ grill or you may bring whatever picnic dinner you wish to consume if BBQ is not your game.

Dear members, past members and friends,

This last Sunday, a bright and lovely Hawai'ian day we bid farewell to our friend Brigitte from the Elks on the shores of Waikiki. After a wonderful ceremony and many accolades including the spontaneous remarks by Brigitte's grandson who could hardly be past 8 years of age a high quality lunch was offered before two Outrigger canoes, decorated with lei and flowers headed out to the reef, Brigitte's final resting place.

This is a last reminder to those who's annual dues payments have not as yet been received by our treasurer Roswitha Kropf:

Bear in mind that late receipt after Feb. 28th 2026 does not only incur a $ 15 late fee but also requires a new application for membership which voids your past years of membership related to your seniority of being a "shareholder" if and when the association may be terminated.

We send this message not as a bill collector but simply to keep you informed.
